Islamic Jew-hatred in the Middle Eastern Media, Part 1: Child Abuse

This is the following series of compilations of video footage from the Middle East Media Research Institute, MEMRI, evidences the prominence and acceptance of Islamic Jew-hatred on Arabic and Persian-language broadcast media outlets.

The expressions of Islamic Jew-hatred have been organised into the following broad categories, which, although they overlap, serve to illustrate the main themes of the Middle Eastern mainstream media's treatment of Jews and Israel:

  1. Child Abuse, Exploitation, and Brainwashing
  2. Holocaust Denial and Glorification of Nazism
  3. Koranic Slurs, Blood Libels, and Conspiracies
  4. Calls for Jihad and Genocide
  5. Rejection of Peaceful Relations with Israel
  6. Lonely Voices of Moderation

There are a few concerns that need to be addressed from the outset:

Firstly, this video series is not anti-Islam or anti-Muslim.  The fact that very many Muslims in the Middle Eastern media routinely express genocidal sentiments does not mean in itself that Islam is a genocidal ideology or that all Muslims support mass murder; however, it should be alarming in the extreme to moderate Muslims.  In no other culture's mainstream media is there anything approximating to the murderous rhetoric that seems commonplace in the Middle East; and it is precisely this messaging that is beamed into Muslim homes around the globe.

Secondly, apologists for Islam, especially in its violent and paranoia-inducing interpretations like Wahhabism,  routinely attempt to discount this footage on two grounds:

    1. That because MEMRI was founded by Yigal Carmon, a former colonel in the Israeli military intelligence and Meyrav Wurmser, an Israeli-born, American political scientist, anything coming from it should be discounted as Jewish or American or Zionist propaganda aiming solely at the denigration of Islam, Muslims, Arabs, etc.
    2. That the videos are misleadingly translated in order to depict the people in it in the worst possible light.
First, there is no doubt that the footage that MEMRI makes available is unfavourable to Israel's enemies and to people who are inspired by Islamic Jew-hatred or traditional European anti-Semitism, but this objection is the logical fallacy of argumentum ad hominem of the cheapest and most degrading kind.  The purpose of MEMRI's operations is to show Western viewers what is actually being beamed into the living rooms of Arabs and Muslims all over the Middle East, Europe, and America.  Unless your position is that Nazi-style anti-Semitic content does not abound in the Middle Eastern mainstream broadcast media, the depressing fact of the matter is that hundreds of millions of Muslims are being raised on a television diet replete with the kind of propaganda that would have made Goebbels and Riefenstahl beam with fatherly and motherly pride.  Consequently, Jews in general and Israelis in particular have an especial interest in making the rest of the Western world aware of what is going in the Middle Eastern mainstream broadcast media: for, as you will see in this series, anti-Semitic, genocidal rhetoric is so commonplace that hatred of Israel and Jews, as one Syrian actress puts it, "is in our genes."

Second, in all of my debates with people who claim that MEMRI's videos are misleadingly translated, I have never come across who can produce evidence to that effect.  Instead, time after time, the "evidence" of a given video's inaccurate translation is that it was translated by Israelis or Jews.  Furthermore, MEMRI has a very obvious interest in ensuring the accuracy of its translations -- as a lightning rod for debates on the Middle Eastern mainstream broadcast media, its critics would be only too happy to point out inaccurate translations where possible.  Furthermore, whatever the translations, the abundance of Nazi-inspired symbols and vicious depictions of Jews as murderers and thieves put to rest any uncertainty as to how Jews and Israelis are viewed by Middle Eastern broadcasters from Iran to Morocco.

Part 1: Brainwashed Children

This is the first video in a series of compilations from the MEMRI archive, demonstrating the prevalence and acceptance of Islamic Jew-hatred in the Middle Eastern mainstream media.  (MEMSM)

The MEMSM plays as important a role in "nursing hatred" of Jews and Israel (to use the words of Egyptian President Morsi) as Goebbels and Riefenstahl's propaganda in Nazi Germany.  As you can see, no child is too young to be taught that Jews are evil, greedy, rapacious, murderous; that Jews want to drink Arabs' blood, murder Arab children etc.

Moreover, such slurs and blood libels are a staple of children's television, and adults are explicitly instructed not merely to "inform" children of Jewish evil but to instill hatred in them.  Child preachers recite anti-Semitic verses from the Koran and Ahadith (of which there are many), mothers put firearms in their toddlers' hands, and authority figures from national leaders to media celebrities endorse the genocidal message.
